4. BROKERAGE USE
5. Options Trading Authorization
Optional. Separate from the US equity and ETF mandate. Listed US equity and ETF options are not permitted unless this section is completed and the election below is Enable. If options are not enabled, leave the rest of this section blank.
Options can lose the entire premium, and short options can lose more than the premium received. Marking Enable means the client has read and accepts the following.
- Leverage. A small premium controls a larger notional. Losses can be rapid and can exceed the debit paid on short or undefined positions.
- Time decay. Long options lose value as expiration approaches, even if the underlying price does not move.
- Expiration. Worthless expiration is a normal outcome. There is no obligation to roll, exercise, or close a position before expiry.
- Assignment and exercise. Short calls and short puts can be assigned at any time. Assignment can create a stock position, a cash debit, or a stock delivery the client must meet at the broker.
- Gap, halt, and liquidity. Wide spreads, halts, and opening gaps can prevent exit at the expected price. Stops do not guarantee a fill.
- Early close and corporate actions. Splits, mergers, special dividends, and contract adjustments can change terms, multiplier, and deliverable.
- Currency. Contracts, premium, and settlement are in USD. A non-USD client bears conversion risk.
- No guarantee. Options are not a hedge unless a protective position is actually open. Past results do not predict future results. The manager does not guarantee income from covered calls or protection from decline.
